weather update

Weather Update - I want to say THANK YOU to all of our staff who have worked so hard to transport our students safely to and from school during this winter season. Also, to our staff who have cleared and treated parking lots and sidewalks to keep us all as safe as possible.

As we continue to experience winter weather in our area, I would like to send an update on our severe weather procedures. Initially, I had posted that we would cancel school with wind chills of -15 degrees. The -15 I have used before was mainly for buses that can “gel up” in extreme temperatures and for students who walk. In continuing to grow and learn, that is not the case for all of our local neighbors. Additionally, our transportation department has worked hard with local mechanics to keep our buses running in extreme weather. We will always take into account the safety of our students, but will not use a set number.

We currently plan on having school tomorrow. There is a chance of snow, so it could always change.

Severe weather decisions are always worrisome in schools. Decisions based on forecasts that always are subject to change cause many hours of conversation and thought this time of year. Thank you for being as supportive as you have this winter season!

Reminder: Parents always have the option to excuse an absence due to inclement weather or local road conditions.
