On January 10, 2024, Oskaloosa USD 341 Board of Education held its regular meeting. The attachments for the mentioned items can be found at www.usd341.org and follow the Board of Education menu item.

The regular monthly meeting was called to order with all members present at 7:00. The first order of business was to elect BOE officers. Dakota Davis was elected BOE President and Jana Farmer was elected BOE Vice-President. The BOE approved the agenda and consent agenda.

The discussion items were as follows:

7.1 - Superintendent Dan Wessel gave his report to the BOE. It included updates on a vehicle purchase and our strategic plan process. Additionally, he informed the BOE about updates to the jersey rotation and communication programs for staff-student communications. Lastly, the BOE discussed briefly allowing the Guidance Center use of the building for summer and after-school programming, if they have to move from the Keystone building.

7.2 - Jana Farmer updated BOE members from the Keystone BOE meeting.

7.3 - BOE talked about planning another teacher appreciation as a part of the January 15 professional development. They will have an hour for some activities and prizes on that day. Also, Heath Flax worked with Russell Stovers to receive some candy for giveaways!

The action items were as follows:

8.1 The BOE approved 7-0 to set our meeting to elect officers in January.

8.2 The BOE approved 7-0 to set our meeting dates to be the second Monday of each month with a new start time of 6:30 PM.

8.3 KASB BOE policy updates were approved 7.0

8 Personnel

The board went into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s contract.

The BOE reconvened to approve an additional year on Dan Wessel’s two -year contract for the 2025-2026 school year.

The board went into executive session to discuss negotiations.

The BOE voted on and approved the following staff changes.
