OSKALOOSA SCHOOLS CELEBRATES OUR SCHOOL BOARD LEADERS THIS JANUARY
“Building a Brighter Future for All Our Children”
January is School Board Recognition Month, and Oskaloosa School District is joining other school districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their untiring dedication to public education.
Being a school board member is sometimes described as one of the “toughest volunteer jobs in America”. Yet Kansas public school board members dedicate countless hours to attending meetings, school functions, and hours of preparation for the decisions they make. They participate in professional development to stay on top of the ever-changing education landscape and issues relating to education. Our schools and our community are better because of these dedicated individuals.
It is an exciting yet challenging time in public education. Oskaloosa school board members develop policies and make tough decisions that help shape the future of our education system. They bear responsibility for an annual budget of $ 5.8 million, 510 students, and approximately 100 employees.
We are grateful to have this opportunity to formally say “thank you” to these education advocates as they provide vision and leadership for student achievement, academic programs, district funding and school facilities. They preserve the core of our democracy—public education.
USD 341-Oskaloosa Schools encourages the entire community to thank a school board member, not only this month, but throughout the entire year.
