OHS Bears Boosters
Minutes
August 29, 2007
6:30 p.m.
Call to Order:
Kelley Rockhold called the meeting to order at 6:30p.m. we had eleven members present.
Approval of Minutes:
Last month's minutes were amended to say Tammy Fowler stated that the Oskaloosa Ball Association donated the gatorade and powerade to give to the players during Bearstock.
Lisa Cross approved the minutes as read. Marcy Brey seconded.
Communications:
Lisa stated that Melinda Harwood was our winner of the gift basket donated at Bearstock. She loved and appreciated the basket and was giving it back to redonate.
Committee Reports:
Two committees were formed.
BIC (Bright Idea Committee) was formed to come up with ideas of things to donate for the school. Kelley, Lisa, and Steve Cunningham will head up the committee.
Fund-raising committee: Marcy, Tammy Fowler, Tina Bates, Tonya Drinkard, Dee McCarty.
Officer's Reports:
President:
Kelley passed around a couple of catalogs of picnic style tablse for the lounge area in the high school. Decided to discuss at a later meeting. Also had stadium chairs, lawn chairs that we could look into selling. Would discuss at a later meeting.
Treasurer:
Marcy reported the seniors last year donated a little over $400 to Boosters. Decided to check into doing a couple of scholarships. Rhonda Robbins was going to check into guidelines and rules about scholarships with Peggy Craig.
Old Business:
Bearstock - Thought Bearstock went well. Next year planned on selling t-shirts cheaper for members as an incentive to become a Booster.
T-shirt order- Sold all 100 t-shirts and ordering 116 total of shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies from orders taken since Bearstock. Orders will be in at home football game September 14th. We will have a table set up to pick up orders.
Fence Cups- Julie McGinnis reported the fence cups were installed on the football fence. Consisted of Go Bears and two bear paws. Membership money is going towards purchase.
Membership - We have 40 family members and 16 businesses. Going to sell memberships at the home football game on September 14th.
Antenna Toppers- Julie reported antenna toppers were ordered and would hopefully be in by the first home game.
Teacher Appreciation- Rhonda and Shelley Cunningham reported that pens were handed out to all teachers, custodians, lunch room personnel, and the office personnel. Going to hand out pens to bus drivers, administration, and board members.
New Business:
Tailgate - JCI has donated $250 for meat for our tailgate party on October 19th. Decided to serve hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, lemonade and tea. Kelley is sending an invitation to JCN. Will start serving at 5:00.
Business Appreciation - Talked about several ideas for business appreciation, will discuss more when we have a list of the businesses.
Homecoming - Julie would get a hold of Ms. Aldridge and find out what they need for the homecoming dance. Will discuss at next meeting.
